The Ecological Culture Initiative will host a Good Ground Heritage Garden Tour and Taste for separate family groups on Saturday, August 8th, 2020, on the grounds of the historic St. Joseph Villa, 81 Lynne Ave, Hampton Bays, NY.
Family groups are invited to take a guided 90-minute interactive tour of ECI's Good Ground Heritage Garden, native pollinator garden, beehives, and composting bins. Learn about our plans for garden signs, rain barrels, and a greenhouse, and enjoy a goody bag of farm-to-table items to taste! Price: $125 per family group

Tour Itinerary
Visit the Good Ground Heritage Garden's hugelkultur beds and see the crops ECI is growing to donate to local food pantries, see our native pollinator garden and monarch waystation, and learn the garden’s history with ECI Good Ground Garden Manager Doria Hughes (20 minutes)
Safely visit our beehives to learn about pollination & beekeeping with ECI Beekeeper Chris Kelly (20 minutes)
Visit our Community Composting Program's composting bins and see how we make our "Black Gold" (kids can hunt for worms!) with ECI Resource Director Tony Romano (20 minutes)
Learn about our Zero Waste Initiative with ECI Director of Zero Waste and Wellness Lauren Carrozzi (15 minutes)
Learn about the impact on our local environment using an interactive Hampton Bays Vision Board with Dr. Scott Carlin (15 minutes)
See where we plan to build our greenhouse, garden signs, and rain barrels, and how we are projecting the costs and timeframe
Each family group will receive a goody bag with a tasting of seasonal crudités or mixed greens, recipes for dip and salad dressing, herbal tea and other tasty items donated by Good Ground Farmers Market vendors, a taste of Good Ground Honey from our bees, black gold compost from our bins, and recipes to make your own organic house cleaner.

Please note: ECI will be adhering to New York State Low-Risk Outdoor Arts & Entertainment Guidelines, which only allows group tours for members of the same household or party, and requires all garden visitors to wear a face covering when within 6' of another person. Tours will occur with 2 separate family groups at a time, each starting from separate locations in the garden.
